GWOR WOMENS MUSIC AND COMEDY EVENT January 18th 2025

Woman music and comedy event Saturday journey

REHOBOTH BEACH CONVENTION CENTER

SATURDAY JANUARY 18TH 2025

DOORS OPEN 5PM SHOW STARTS AT 6PM

ENTERTAINMENT LINE UP-

PAMELA WILLIAMS

E’LISSA JONES

VICKIE SHAW

D’YAN FOREST

GWOR welcomes back to Rehoboth Beach the multi- talented saxtress Pamela Williams from Philadelphia who began playing tenor saxophone while still very young and played in the Martin Luther King Jazz Ensemble at King High School in her home-town. In her teens she was already leading her own band, playing local clubs and building a wide-ranging repertoire. When she was 20 she began touring with Patti LaBelle, Teena Marie, Prince, Barry White, Baby Face, Chante Moore, Queen Latifah, Sheila E to name a few. She currently tours the world and we are so proud to have her return for the community!

E'lissa Jones is a beautiful singer, prolific songwriter, violinist, pianist, and guitarist. She is an exceptionally talented artist with a wide range whose songs embrace audiences with powerful melodies and expressive lyrics. Influential styling ranges from folk to rock in her catalogue of over 250 original songs.

Vickie Shaw, comedian! Need we say more. We need me some comedy right now! A favorite no matter where she goes!

D’ylan Forest lives between New York City and Paris. At 90 years old she has more energy than many of us! With no idea that she had the capability to be funny, Forest became what the world needed the most at that time: a comedian. With her ukulele in hand, Forest put together a hysterical and risqué one-woman show which caught on quickly. Her act, accurately called “I Married a Nun,” landed her on the same stages as Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan, and Joan Rivers. In fact, upon meeting Rivers, she referred to Forest as “the filthy ukulele player.” COVID-19 got Forest to wondering what else she could do with all of her wonderfully hilarious stories from life. She is back on stage!

ARTIST'S BIO'S

Yasmin Williams

A woman taking guitar on the hand and see on the front

Yasmin Williams is an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist with an unorthodox, modern style of playing. Her music has been commonly described as refreshing, relaxing, and unique and has been called some of the most imaginative guitar music out today. She utilizes various techniques including alternate tunings, percussive hits, and lap tapping in her music to great effect. She has won various local talent shows, was a finalist in the Rolling Stones Young Gun guitar competition, was the Grand prize winner of New York University's Ultra Violet Live talent show, and won the Gold Prize in the Instrumental category of the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. She has been featured on several radio and television programs including New Sounds Soundcheck Podcast, NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday show, NPR Night Owl, NPR All Songs Considered, Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, and WUSA9, along with high profile magazine features such as Acoustic Guitar Magazine and Vintage Guitar Magazine

Pamela Williams

A woman wearing a black suit with playing tenor saxophone

b. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Williams began playing tenor saxophone while still very young and played in the Martin Luther King Jazz Ensemble at King High School in her home-town. In her teens she was already leading her own band, playing local clubs and building a wide-ranging repertoire that encompassed jazz, Latin, R&B and hip-hop. When she was 20 she began touring with Patti LaBelle, an engagement that lasted almost six years. In 1996 Williams’ recording of ‘Secret Garden’, a single from Saxtress, which featured singers Teena Marie and LaBelle, spent four months on the Billboard Top 25. Williams has also worked with Prince and has made videos with Barry White.

An immensely talented player, Williams has built an enviable following among a younger generation of listeners and has created a satisfying blend of smooth jazz and contemporary pop.

Sarah Peacock

Sarah Peacock

A woman wearing blue shirt and looking front

American history is blood-stained with the dehumanization of entire communities. Casting her own harrowing spell, singer-songwriter Sarah Peacock draws parallels between current events and the 1692 Salem Witch Trials with the title song to her new record, Burn the Witch (March 27, 2020). Finger-picking guitar work cleanses the throat as her voice swells to mimic the havoc strewn through time, as well as present-day strife along our southern border. Such raw intensity boils over onto the rest of the 11-track record, and while her style is not easily defined, her storytelling prowess is irrefutably potent and unnerving.

“Hopefully, this song inspires people to take a look at what’s happening in our world today and how we abuse people,” she says of the song, which is delivered as a “catalyst for hope.”

Peacock has a bedeviling way about her, particularly in the way she harvests such influences as Brandi Carlile and Heart. She even filters heavy metal band Metallica through a rootsy, acoustic lens to emerge with a silky, sticky musical web of her very own. “Keep Quiet” slithers from her bones in a similar sinister fashion, twisting her lyrical mechanisms even tighter, while “Mojave” flourishes with a vibrantly polished hook. Her voice always rises to the occasion -- switching between various styles as effortlessly as a chameleon.
